HISTORY OF SPARKLES SHOWBAR

The concept of Sparkles Showbar was discussed with all four of us back in 2007, in January of 2008, Andi and James came across the old Moreno lll restaurant that had closed down on the first floor of the Yumbo centre.

Tammy and Dinah were on holiday and Andi telephoned them to say that this venue was empty and they thought it was fabulous.
On returning to gran canaria, Dinah and Tammy went to take a look, and telephoned the contact number to see the inside, unfortunately Andi and James had flown back home the day Dinah and Tammy arrived back and were not there to see it.

After looking inside, Dinah and Tammy telephoned Andi and James and said that it was perfect, they could not wait until they were back to come take a look.

On their return, arrangements were made for all four to view the venue, and all of us fell in love with the venue straight away.
it was exciting and scary at the same time.
We negotiated with the owners for some time and we had a business project designed.
Professionals were called in by us for all the legality’s and they were fantastic, lots of people come here to start businesses and don’t realize what you can and can not get, or do legally.

Other people were in the running to possess the venue so we had to battle it out all the way through to April, almost four months.
One day it was ours and the next, it was somebody else’s, then one day we were informed that the owners had gone with somebody else and that was that, we were back to square one with no venue.
All four of us were upset and we were all standing in Tammy and Dinah’s house in a slight daze, Tammy was crying into the kitchen cupboard.
Then all of a sudden Tammy looked at us and said, im not having this and picked up the telephone, made a few phone calls and hey presto we were back in the running again. (Good old Tammy)
We eventually signed on the dotted line and the venue was ours on the third week of April.

So now we had the venue, we just needed a name, and this I think was more difficult than the fight for the venue.
Lots of names were suggested and disliked by one or more of us, then one day a friend suggested sparklers, then Dinah said what about sparkles.
Instantly we all decided we liked the name as it was perfect for a cabaret bar with all the lights and glamour and glitter etc.
When applying for the name you have to chose three different names and send them to Madrid, they check that there is no other name the same and tell you which one of the three is available.
We chose Sparkles, Sparkles Showbar and Sparkles Cabaret Bar, after a week or so we were told that Sparkles Showbar was available.

So now we had the venue and the name, all we needed to do now was transform a restaurant into a showbar, which we did.And Sparkles Showbar was born.
