I I have been Andy’s partner for 20 years now and have been working with him for about 18 years. In that time I have driven him all over the UK and making costumes for his shows, of which I have no training in dressmaking. Our friend who is also a drag queen, Billie Raymond, showed me how to do a few bits n bobs and the rest i have picked up over the years. I now make most of the outfits for our show as well as doing the wigs. On show nights I become wardrobe mistress making sure they are all ready in time and have the appropriate props and wigs for the numbers as well as doing the sound and lights.
I am very much in the background and that’s the way I like it. Very occasionally I have been known to drag up as Lulu St Vincent & when I do I always make a new outfit and its always stunning. I have been asked so many times why I am not a drag queen and the answer is quite simply I cant mime or dance to save myself so I wouldnt want to inflict that on the public. There are enough drag queens around doing that already. I’m always making something new for the show so the next time you see it there will be something you wont have seen before and we are working on new numbers to keep the show fresh alongside the old favourites.
Love to all
Lulu St Vincent
